February 21, 2012 – Recently an article was written about the plethora of San Diego shopping.  The article focused on the top five shopping experiences.  This article will continue that discussion with the next five greatest places to shop in San Diego.

The first five shopping malls in San Diego are Fashion Valley Center, Otah Ranch Town Center, Westfield Horton Plaza, Westfield Plaza Bonita (or Gaslamp district), Westfield University Town Center and Westfield University Town Center. Shopping centers 6-10 are:

6. Grossmont Center.  This is the sort of mall that makes you nostalgic.  Compared with the megamalls that cover what seem like miles, Grossmont Center is just nice shopping experience.  With a plethora of sit down restaurants including Olive Garden and Shakey’s Pizza, there are also staple stores such as Target, Marcy’s and a two level Wal-Mart.  For your entertainment needs, Grossmont offers a nice theater.

7. Westfield Parkway Plaza.  Have you noticed a Westfield connection?  These are the high-end malls sprinkling East County.  This mall is designed for Middle America.  No pretentious stores; no Tiffany’s or Saks or Gucci, just good stores that sell what you need at priced you can afford.  Wal-mart, Macy, Penney, and Sears hold this mall together.  This mall feels family friendly complete with a large carousel in the center court.

8. Westfield North County serves San Marcos, Vista and Escondido.  Before the acquisition from Westfield, this mall was previously North County Fair Mall. The newer stores are H&M and Apple, which lend credence to any mall.

9. Chula Vista Center.  Although located between Plaza Bonita and the new Otay Ranch, Chula Vista can hold its own.  Chula Vista is an outdoor mall that allows you to take advantage of the beautiful weatherSan Diego Shopping is at its great in this little mall.

  1. Westfield Plaza Camino Real is an indoor mall, two stories that house over 170 different stores.  Mall walkers love this mall for its long corridors and interesting window displays.

San Diego shopping is alive and well with not only the top five malls but the next group as well!  There are choices and options for everyone.
