Smoothie Recipes for Weight Loss

September 8, 2011 – There are so many great smoothie recipes for weight loss out there, that can be a little confusing determining which particular ones are going to be the best smoothie recipes of the bunch. But the fact is that if you stick to a few basic principles in terms of the type of ingredients you use, the quality of the actual ingredients, and also the quality of the blender and supplements that use as well, you can have an effective weight loss smoothie that tastes great and doesn’t have every time. One of the best types of smoothies to drop a few pounds are green smoothies.

A green smoothie is essentially a fruit smoothie that also has a large amount of greens in as well, with the most common being kale, spinach, chard, and wheat grass just to name a few. The reason why this particular ingredient is important, is because not only does it give a ton of nutrition for very little calories, but greens also provide a lot of fiber and “bulk” to the smoothie which allows it to be more filling and ultimately a better type of smoothie when trying to lose weight.

Now there are some other factors to take into consideration as well, and one of the most important is what the blender you’re going to use. You’ll generally want to use a stronger and more high powered blender, like a vita-mix. or blendtech blender, if you’re going to be using mostly frozen fruit. Just remember to add a little bit of natural sweetener like stevia or blue agave syrup to your smoothie because frozen fruit tends to need a little bit of sweetener to bring out the flavor. Some great supplements you can add to your smoothie to encourage muscle growth and fat reduction are vegan sources of protein powder and healthy omega-3 flax oil.
