Top 5 Lightweight Jackets

December 6, 2010 – Whether you live in the north, south, east, or west, everyone owns a lightweight jacket. Weather is unpredictable and you sometimes just need a little more warmth, or a little more protection from the  rain, snow, or wind. With thousands of jackets on the market , here is a list of the top five lightweight jackets to help you decision be a bit easier.

The first jacket is the North Face Apex Bionic Jacket is a supreme lightweight jacket. With it’s waterproof and windproof technology, it can withstand most anything mother nature can throw at it with the exception of a blizzard or hail. With an extra layer underneath, perhaps a hoodie, this jacket is suitable for winter as well. Thinner than your typical North Face Hyvent Jacket, but just as quality, the Apex Bionic is tops!

Second, we have the North Face Denali is a fleece jacket, but is just as great. Designed with or without a wind blocking layer, the Denali fleece can withstand cold temperatures As a matter of fact, many people who own the Denali Wind Pro fleece don this as their jacket of choice throughout winter in New England. Both North Face jackets are highly breathable, allowing body temp to be regulated.

Third in line is the Patagonia R4 fleece jacket, another lightweight, windproof jacket that is great. Patagonia is also known for it’s quality outdoor apparel and the R4 is no exception. Fourth is the Marmot Oracle jacket from another great brand. Waterproof, breathable, and lightweight, the Oracle is a great buy. This jacket also includes a hood which is an added bonus when compared to the former three lightweight jackets. Sleek and stylish, the Oracle looks good, but all of these jackets do!

And last, but not least is the REI Ultra Light Jacket, a great product from the outdoor retailer’s name brand collection. Lightweight, waterproof and has it’s own bag attached for storing, if it warms up!  This jacket also includes a hood.

Choosing a lightweight jacket can seem overwhelming, but it’s not.
